National Property Trade are proud to announce that we are now a member of the Property Ombudsman. As a leading UK house buyer we are now a member under the new house buyer code. Having contributed to the industry process by engaging the Office of Fair Trade and Property Ombudsman in meetings since June 2013, we are now proud to say that we have an agreed code of standards for our industry. Genuine house buyers are now able to voluntarily join The Property Ombudsman. This means importantly that vendor complaints and issues will be independently reviewed by the same Ombudsman that oversees Estate Agents. Members will also be covered by professional indemnity insurance which means any seller can seek recovery for a financial loss that may have occurred as a result of any mistreatment.

It is important to note that not all house buyers will join, because it is a voluntary code and membership of the Property Ombudsman is also voluntary. Secondly not all house buyers will qualify for professional indemnity. This can occur for many reasons but typically if a company does not qualify for indemnity insurance it can point to previous disputes or claims. So be sure you only deal with a genuine house buyer who has joined the TPO. It is also important to point out that brokers should already be members of the TPO under the broker/sales code which has been in place for some time. If you are dealing with a broker and not a genuine house buyer be sure to ask the difference and if you want a quick cash sale you should be able to find the genuine buyer on the property ombudsman website, under the “find a member” section.

Valuers did not turn up for appointments, survey took two weeks to carry out, over a month from first contact to initial payment. Not a 7 day no hassle service at all, we wait to see how the assisted sale will pan out, but not optimistic.
